Title: INYO County - 'Pleasant' (Valley) Fire
Post by: P A C on February 19, 2018, 10:19:55 AM
Just learned of this on the radio while driving.  The reporter narrated it as an INYO COUNTY FIRE, north of Bishop.

However a couple of these articles make it sound much closer..........Now over 3,000 Acres as of 9:45 AM this morning (Monday 2/19)

Prayers and Hoping everyone and everything is spared and this Fire does not become what it could be with the increasing and shifting winds!

Read a few speculations that the fire started at PVR campground. Some also said that they thought that PVR campground is burned.

Someone on another board was at PVR campground and said a camper exploded, whatever that means..Wondering if a propane tank exploded and started the fire....Folks said the wind was blowing about 60 mph...Can assume it burned a lot of vegetation along the river.

LHR,

My sister lives in the area and has not expressed any concern about the museum at this time.  If her updates change the outlook then I will post immediately.

The fire was stopped at Hwy 6 so the railroad museum is fine

good to hear... while I doubt a brush fire going thru there would hurt the engines themselves... there are all kinds of old photos and such not that could be lost...

I ran into some CalFire crews at Von's in Bishop this morning, the fire is out, except for mop up.
