Thanks for the insight, flyfishing for couple of years, still @ a learning curve. Never thought to match the hatch with two different stages of the caddis development.

I emailed Saddlebag Resort last Sunday regarding 2014 closing schedule, Steve Ernst emailed back they are closing the end of Sept. Just checked their website, shows Sept. 28th closing date. Taxi running 8-5 after Labor Day.

Yeah I've got to get a tube. From the research I've done Outcast @ outcastboats.com seems to be the biggest bang for the money, website totalflyfishing.com has a great comparison article on the different models of Outcast. Outcast has a backpacking model out called the Trinity that weighs in about 7 lbs with a 300lb. capacity. Most of the Outcast tubes weigh about 15 lb., good for a day hike but I would like to shave off as much weight so I could cover more ground.(which means more lakes to fish) Force Fins seem to be the way to go for the best brand in fins.

Thanks for the report. A 17" & 19" rainbow is decent with water temps down that low and muddy water. You provided a nice fix until I can get up there.

Per the Tom Harrison Mono Divide High Country trail map it is 4.9 miles from the Rock lake campground to Tamarack Lake. That's a tough hike in waders and waderboots. Are Francis, Kenneth or Dorothy lakes fishy? Also, published distance is not always accurate.

Found a interesting book (more so after a few beers) titled "Geologic Trips Sierra Nevada", Ted Konigsmark...ISBN 0- 9661316-5-7 that describes
the geology of the Sierras including the Long Valley volcano that contributed to the physical structure of the Owens Valley. The caldera (yeah, I
googled that word) is still volcanically active and providing heat for the hot springs and hot creeks.

Per the National Geographic map, Yosemite NE #308 from the TH south side (west side?) is 1.6 miles each way to Greenstone with a very easy
trail around Saddlebag. Also, thanks for the update on the water taxi, this gives me a chance to adjust my plans.

Info for those of us who need one more fly rod: Redington has discontinued their CT (Classic Trout) series and replacement will be the new Tempt
series. Cabela's is closing them out @ $99.00 ea. including a hardcase carrier. No sales tax or shipping. I bought a 5 Wt 8.5 4pc. and I noticed
a variety of weights available. Advertised as a med. to fast action, great finish and feel, I can hear those Brookies calling @ Long Lake.

Thank you all for the imput. Saudust, is this the Walker Lake thu Sawmill or Bloody Canyon? (bet there is a great tale how the name Bloody Canyon came
about) And Cottonwood Lakes are something to consider this year, could always do a overnighter. FYI, great article on Leavitt Meadow in the August
2013 issue of the California Fly Fisher. In that area I like to park @ Pickel Meadows and fish downstream on the West Walker, toward Hy. 395 for some
good wide open casting.

I'm new to Rock Creek area having "discovered"this beautiful eastside gem. When I first hiked the Little Lakes Valley trail I couldn't decide
whether to hike or fish. I soon got my priorities in order and started fishing Mack thu Box Lake with great little brook trout hitting. I'm heading
up to this area the week of Sept. 22nd and would appreciate any suggestions on Golden Trout streams or lakes on the east side that are
reachable in a day hike, 6 miles or so RT. ( yeah I walk slow, rehabbing from a meniscus knee tear) Wshawkins was kind enough to suggest
some hikes in the Tioga Pass area for rainbows and any GT info. would be put to good use. PM me if you wish, I practice C&R, barbless.
