Doesn't seem to be related to the petroglyphs stolen from BLM land.

Eastern Sierra Forum / Summer 2015

The Eastern Sierra Snow Survey released yesterday says that the Rock Creek Areas has 10% of the April 1 normal amount of snow/water, and overall 1% of normal. The lowest of all the nearby areas that were measured.

As we knew, not off to a good start of the summer.

From Scout:

I went up the hill yesterday, cooler, overcast, but no rain while I was there. We have been in a rainy pattern since Saturday, kind of hit or miss, but it's rain.  The road to Mosquito is open, it's  free of snow all the way, but I could see snow on the trail from the parking lot. It looks like they opened Iris Meadow, but nothing higher up yet. It shouldn't be long before they do, there's not much snow left anywhere...of course, they probably have to wait for the camp hosts to show up......

Not to be confused with the current discussion about guns and tragic killings on Friday, what are your thoughts on this?

Eastern Sierra Forum / Weddings in Rock Creek
« on: June 30, 2012, 05:21:50 PM »
Hey - some friends have decided to get married at the lake. No fuss. Just the ceremony.

Wondered if anyone has seen weddings up there before. I don't make it the lake very often. Any thoughts on them?

Eastern Sierra Forum / Belding's ground squirrels
« on: May 19, 2012, 10:50:49 PM »
Hey there - apologies for my forgetfulness, but last summer someone posted a short video of Belding kids playing near where they were fishing. I PM'd to find out where this was. I thought it was Grant Lake. I scoped out the area today, but didn't find suitable habitat or squirrels.

If that was you, would you please refresh my addled brain and tell me where you saw these guys? Always appreciate new sites to watch them.

(I curse the demons that took away our old board!!)

Thanks,
Jill

Our ground squirrel crew is starting this weekend. Several months back 'home' in the canyon. Wondering how many of the little guys survived without much snow to insulate their hibernacula.

Normally we'd be sending updates of campground openings and road conditions, but thanks to Scout and Facebook, we don't need to!

Meanwhile, happy Fishmas to all!!
