Visible proof of what a hard life it was to live there. I think that beats out the nastiness of the summer!

Eastern Sierra Forum / Re: Parking in the campgrounds
« on: March 04, 2017, 09:49:43 AM »
Not sure if it different for other campgrounds (doubt it as they are run by the same entity). East Fork has overflow parking By the Camp host sites. It is $7 per vehicle per day. Trailers count as one so the trailer and tow vehicle will take up the reservation spot. Also depends on the spot and trailer size, as some will not be able to fit both without the vehicle sticking into the road.

Do you have reservations for a spot? Depending on the trailer size, that time of year will be taking a big risk as spots are packed with people. What even might be available, good chance it will not fit a trailer of any size, or the pad might be at an angle that will not be able to level the trailer. Do not want to sound bad, but it would really stink to haul up there and have no place to park it.

Bishop Creek, Sabrina Lake, and South Lake are great places. All a stones throw from each other.

Another from Scout. Thanks for giving us the Birds Eye View.  This is the view looking North/West from the top of the hill before it drops down to the Hilton Residential area and above Crowley Lake.

I just took this from the top of the ridge on Oha...did I ever tell you how it got it's name?...one version anyway...when they were building the road in 1931, everybody called the foreman of the project " old horse's ass"...oha.    Lots of snow out there.

We need to remember this is only mid/late January. In the years past most of the issue was that February through April turned dry. Hoping that is not the case as we need more this season and repeat for a few years to come. If we do not get more of this, it will be melted away by April. Sorry Scout, but bring it on!! If I need to I will come up and help you  :wood:

More from Scout:
This is Crowley Lake Drive between Toms Place and Crowley Lake. Only about a lane and a half until the blower gets there.

For us old timers, this was the road from Toms Place until McGee Creek when it hooked back up to Hwy 395. The hill top before dropping down to Hilton Creek and Crowley lake was always a white knuckle stretch in snow and icy conditions!!

Here are a few pictures from Scout. This is at Hilton Creek area. Many reside there as it does not get the large dumps of snow that happen in Mammoth, but is right at the edge of paradise. Growing up my family had a cabin along with another family here. I had never seen it look like this in all my years there. Hope Maggie helps him dig out the wood pile!

Here's my Jeep this morning...it looked just like this a couple mornings ago. The hump behind the Jeep is my wood pile.

This is the road in front of my house, the walls are taller than I am.

Tell Maggie there is a stick under the snow, and she will clear it out for you.

Want to borrow  our Kayaks Carol? In case you need to go to the store or something.

Ah yes, the old CSI Lake, but I don't think the secret ever got out how Chris W caught those huge browns there. Great Photos!

Chris was nice enough to supply me with some of the "magic" devices. Still need to go there and put them to use.

Looking forward to any photos of May Lundy Mine area. Have not been back there for 45 years, but loved it as a kid. The cabins were still standing and had cots and stoves in them. They were in bad shape then,so doubt they are still standing. Lots of square nails laying around.

Only went that way once. The trail picture gave it away for me. If no one else chimes in, I will later.

Ever do the other shortcut into Evolution? The Black notch above Echo lake. That one will make your huevos tingle for sure.
