just had a thought the elevation may give your toddler a headache....   so you may look at French camp at the bottom of the canyon (very close to toms place) as well...   plus there is phone service there in case you need it.

i have never stayed in the campground by the lake, but i have heard it is a busy place...   lots of folks walking around.   and yes, i have been one of them:).    i am not sure i would want to haul a bunch of camping gear to the walk in sites..but that is me:).  they had wheel barrel / wagons there to help haul stuff.     iris and big meadow are my fav,,,  tho i spend alot of time in eastfork..

you should be able to pick a great site!

Eastern Sierra Forum / Re: Furguson fire and smoke?
« on: July 18, 2018, 03:07:57 PM »
i do know smoke from that fire is filling up the lake tahoe basin today....

i have seen pics on facebook of clear skies near mammoth in the morning, and then filled with smoke in the afternoon... so it is wind dependent on where the smoke is going.

cal fire's update this mornng was not very encouraging about this fire getting put out any time soon...thats a bummer.

perhaps Scout will give us his take of the smoke at the canyon:)

WOW Gary!

what a great trip report!

i especially love that pic of the fish feeding at sunset...   so gorogus!

hope Vinces knee is feeling better... that had to hurt!

I saw a video of the lake on facebook from may 7.. the lake was mostly thawed out then..  I tried to steal it to post here, but that is beyond my computer skills:)

I know French camp is already open, I haven't seen any updates on the rest.
