Thanks very much everyone.  I do the fly/bubble and lure (barbless) thing at the moment - haven't quite moved up to the true fly fishing thing yet.  I'm very excited to visit this new (to me) lake! :)

Eastern Sierra Fishing / Hilton Lakes 5, 6, 7, 8

Hello all,

Similar to the question I just posted about Ruby Lake, how's the fishing at Hilton's 5, 6, 7, and 8?  I've been to 1 - 4 and had great results with C&R a variety of sizes and types of trout.  I know the Hilton's are a little more sensitive for folks so feel free to PM me if you'd like.  I'm just looking to have some success up there this year.

Cheers,
Brian

Looking at going on the short hike up to Ruby lake in late June this year.  How's the fishing in general at Ruby?  Any better times of the day or spots to look for?

I've fished the rest of LLV quite extensively, but have never made it up to Ruby.  I don't think Mills will be unfrozen by the time I arrive this year so I'm not planning on heading up further.

Wow, I get excited for a 12" Brookie let alone one's as big as your arm!  :)  Nicely done once again.

Hey Sierra Girl,

I've been looking into that for myself and it does look doable if you are in good shape.  It looks to be about a 10 - 12 mile roundtrip (5 - 6 miles one-way) hike with about a 2000 ft. elevation gain.

I probably should have mentioned that it is my daughter.  Haha.  But either way... same difference in my eyes! :)

I always look forward to your reports, retired - you really tell it like it is. :)  The reason I head up to the East Side is so that I can get away from yahoos like those you mention.  You do have to hike in a bit to do so sometimes, though.  Glad to hear this season was pretty successful for you.

That sounds very cool.  I'm hoping to take my 9 year old on our first solo trip this year as well.  We'll see if the Mrs. is up for that yet. :)  I know my 9 year old is!

Just wanted to say thank for the work you put into this board.  I don't post a whole heck of a lot, but I really enjoy the camaraderie and living vicariously through some of your adventures.  Here's to a great season!
