Happy Memorial Day Weekend

Freedom Is Not Free - Kelly Strong

I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
and then he stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
He'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil?
How many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.

I heard the sound of TAPS one night,
When everything was still
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That TAPS had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a coffin
Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
No, freedom isn't free.

Thanks Dad and all who gave their all

Very moving.  Thanks Freddy.  That bridge in L.A. is cool.
The E.S. is where I come to get back to sanity and to the real me.

Life without music, laughter, and an Eastern Slope BBQ would be a mistake.

The celebrities of the past were more than the Paris Hiltons and Kim Kardashians that we have now

Today was a day to remember the ones we knew,  the ones we read about in the local paper and the other fine young men that gave their lives so the we can enjoy our freedom. But don't forget the men that came back and are trying to fit back into the mainstream. If your company or your business has an opportunity look into hireing  one of these young men as they deserve our support>

Trev Dog,

We only hire vets.

They have been the best biologists that we have ever had.

The men and women Marines have been integral in the success of our projects.

Yesterday was a somber day, trying to remember the faces of family and friends that are no longer here.  With so many now gone it tears me apart when our family continues the 234 year tradition of having service men & women re-up or enlist.  BUT, the pride I feel each time I see them and remember the value of the tradition always overshadows the worry.

The wars never end for those who have served.  It seems that they never will end between my ears until entropy succeeds.  Until then, we make the best of life because most folks have absolutely no idea what it is like.

Semper Fi, Marines.

vhbcinc, thanks for supporting our veterans. Like R96 I am a Vietnam veteran and Memorial Day is not a good day. Reflecting back on what you've seen, heard, the friends you lost, and your countries attitude towards the soldiers that returned and just wanted to fit back into the mainstream. Fortunately that changed with Desert Storm. Now with our economy in its current shape its important that business like yours give these men and women opportunity when they return. They earned it.
