One of these days when my time has come
You can take me back to where Iím from
Put me on a westbound train
And ship me off in the pouriní rain
Donít cry for me when Iím gone
Just put a quarter in the jukebox and sing me back home and
Tip your hats and raise your glasses of cold cold beer
 They say countryís fading
But just keep waving that flag around here
And I know itíll keep on coming back
As long as people pledge allegiance
 Where folks still pledge allegiance
I pledge allegiance to the Hag

Rest in peace

He now joins his buddy Buck Owens in heaven. Sad to say if Country Music keeps going in the direction it is, and does not lean back into its roots, both of them will be rolling around in their graves.

Glad Dwight Yoakam is still around to carry on the sound of the honky tonk era.

Hangin out with Dwight on his bus.

Mrs. Playingmenace is a huge Dwight fan Pack. We've seen him twice in Bakersfield and once at Universal. Great show. She'll be a little envious when I show her this pic.

Loved Merle, he was one of the greats.

As for Dwight Yoakum I guess that you all know he will be headlining the country music festival in Bishop this year.

Does anybody out there remember the old "Sierra Summer Festival", back in the "good old days", when they actually had good music? It was either the late 70's, or early 80's, Merle played a concert at the Festival that coincided with my trip up here (before I moved). Very cool, the stage was set up in front of Main Lodge, we all sat on Broadway (the ski run) in beach chairs. The show started at dusk, a little sunset lighting, an excellent concert...kinda like the 60's, I wish I could remember it better.

I did attend in the late 70's. Those were some great times and what seemed like a crowd around there then, is just a drop in the bucket with what you run into these days.
