Snow Update
« on: April 27, 2016, 02:18:26 PM »
Headed up to Eastfork Cg and want hike in little lakes valley in a couple of weeks.  How are the roads and campgrounds doing?   :cold:

Been going up to Rock Creek for many years but had some serious medical problems that kept me away.  Hopefully that won't effect my trip.  I've been looking forward to this trip for 2.5 years.

Too long to be away from the mountains.

I think the road is fine all the way to the lake but I doubt EF will be open in a couple weeks. I always assumed they opened up right near the end of May before the Holiday.

Does anyone know how snowed in East Fork is? Memorial Day was rough in tents last year with the rain.

Thanks Corey for the FB page tip. They post a lot of pictures!

You are welcome

We were in French Camp last year over Memorial day and the rain was crazy. We are  moving back to Eastfork this year hoping to get snow instead of rain its much easier to deal with.  :trailer:  :shoveling:

We just camped near Quaking Aspen Meadow on the West side (north of the Kern outlet and South of the Kaweah outlet); top of Tule River drainage May 4 - 6. About 75% snow - free at 7300' elevation but still 5 feet in places. Probably not relevant to LLV but an update none the less. The Tule River right now has an enormous amount of water for such a small watershed area. Soothing to see!!

Looks like Eastfork opened yesterday (Friday 5/13).  See you there soon.

Yes, East Fork is open.  The weather report changes every day.  Fun fun!
