a Bodie run..

Lil grey and I got antsy, so we headed to Bodie for the Sat night walk... the park stays open until 10 pm 3 days a year, and sat was one of them. It was definitely special being there as the town lit up with the setting sun, and then got dark as the sun went down:)
the sunlight was streaming into the hotel...
and in the school house
and then the sun began to go down..
the ever famous Cain house:
one of the neatest things happens at dusk.. 100's of swallows come out and fill the skies... I have seen their nests around town, but never thought of them swarming the skies.. it was so cool to watch!
after dark, we got to wander around with an astronomer and look at the stars.. and there were a lot of stars... talk about no light pollution!
and for those of you who like to keep tabs on the west walker... it was looking pretty good!

If we had only known we could have had a face to face meeting. I love your pictures.

Wonderful travel log, LHR. Interesting pics inside the buildings. They just vanished!

Does look like they just left town in a hurry and left it all behind! Nice pictures!

Looks like fun. Just glad you did not run into any boot hill residents. They come out after dark ya know.

We went to Bodie last year and if you've never gone, you should. I can't even imagine living in that desolate place back in the day. It is really something special.

Wonderful pics!! Thanks for sharing them. I've only visited before it was a park and pretty ramshackle. A re-visit is a must.
