June Lake incident today

Read on another board, a boat containing 5 people overturned today,,, two swam to shore and are safe,,,, the other 3 have not been found after a lengthy search by first responders.

such sad news...    i cant help but wonder if they were weighted down with fishing equipment?

They say it was cold and very windy, they were not in a rental boat as the strong winds halted any boat rentals... I can only assume they were dressed for the cold,windy weather and going into the water would have made it very difficult if not impossible to swim to safety.....It is now considered a recovery search...In cold water a body will not surface for some time..Its a father, son and son in law that are missing..

Most folks who rent or launch their own boats do not wear their life preservers.  They seem to forget that Hypothermia from several minutes in 40 degree water will incapacitate most folks (other then a Navy Seal) to the point they are physically incapable of helping themselves or others.

The folks in this case didn't even have any life jackets in the boat.....It was a foolish idea to even go on the lake with miserable weather conditions and sadly 3 lost their lives.

It really makes you wonder what was going thru their minds even going out on the lake . So Sad
