The overflow from June Lake and nearby Gull Lake, which are spring-fed lakes flows back toward the mountain range and thus is named Reversed Creek.  Reversed Creek reaches Rush Creek and flows through Silver Lake and Grant Lake, completing the "loop" to the Mono Basin.

Silver Lake, the most beautiful of the June Lake Loop lakes in my opinion!

Silver Lake Resort celebrated their 100 year anniversary in 2016.  It all started in 1916 when Roy Carson started the first private resort in the June Lake Loop.  Back then it was called Carson Camp.  They changed the name to Silver Lake Resort in 1940.  The café and store was constructed in 1921 and remains popular today.

“Carson Camp --- Where fishing was always good”, which became “Silver Lake --- The Gem of the Sierra”.

My only complaint about Silver Lake is the wind like your last photo. It'a a neat little resort though.

Ever seen Reverse Creek in the June Lake Loop?

Reverse Creek is a small stream that overflows from June and Gull Lakes, which are spring-fed lakes that flows back toward the mountain range and thus is named Reversed Creek.  Reversed Creek reaches Rush Creek and flows through Silver Lake and Grant Lake, completing the "loop" to Mono Lake.

The uniqueness of Reverse Creek and the spectacular terrain of the horse-shoe shaped valley are owed to the activity of the Rush Creek Glacier, which was twenty-four square miles in size in it's prime many years ago.  The glacier played a strange trick near June Lake, where the stream runs from the lakes towards the Sierra, not away from it!

Rush Creek is a water highway for spawning browns and rainbows.  The stretch from Grant up to Silver is gorgeous and loaded with willing rainbows and browns.  During the fall season Rush Creek also has some of the best fall colors in the loop.
