They've all seen too many Subaru commercials showing people going mach 1 in the snow..."Gee, if I buy a Subaru, I can do that too"...
Then they don't shovel the snow off the roof of their cars, it flies off the roof when they're going mach 1, and takes out the car(s) behind them....
Don't get me started.
Actually partly sunny in Crowley today, made a quick trip to Bishop for supplies, snow down there too. I hear it's a nightmare in Mammoth today, blizzard conditions.

Press Release - Avalanche Forecast

The accumulation of several feet of new snow paired with gusty winds is increasing the potential for large avalanches to occur tonight through Wednesday morning. The areas and roads most at risk are Twin Lakes Road past Twin Lakes Resort in Bridgeport; Crowley Lake Drive from the north end at Hwy 395 to McGee Creek Road; and Rock Creek Road from Hwy 395. The Swall Meadows avalanche paths may also be at risk. Road crews have been instructed to refrain from plowing the above-mentioned roads. Evacuations are not being ordered at this time; however, residents should be advised of the potential for avalanche activity.

Another foot of snow overnight, dry stuff this time. The snow pillow at Rock Creek Lake says 76 inches. Looks like we'll have some water this summer. Avalanches off McGee Mt., that's why they closed Crowley Lake Drive yesterday. Haven't heard much else, I've been shoveling all day, and digging out my wood pile, and cutting and splitting wood for the stove, and shoveling some more...
Still beats living in the city....
Are you out looking for gold, LHR? Could be some new stuff uncovered....

With all this snow I have a feeling there is still going to be quite a bit of snow come opening day. I recall 20 some years ago French Camp had a fair amount of snow for the opener but they still opened the campground..

My rain gauge shows we have had 8 1/2 inches in the past month compared to only 7 inches all last year..And February is usually the wettest month in So. Cal.

Paul,  I'm thinking that flood at French Camp could have been,   I'm saying could, have been, the big summer monsoon in 2003 that naturally rained all over the area that had just burned across the road from the camp.  I know it did flow into the camp and even flooded some of the bathrooms...

You're right Terry. I remember it well. Since French Camp is built in a flood plain, that's where all the water goes.
