Thanks for the insight Hardrock.  Has anybody dared to predict the higher campground openings, still a lot of snow I've heard, but posted as 5/11.  Thanks again.

this was posted by bishop creek and big pines campgrounds today:

If you are planning on visiting our campgrounds in the Big Pine Canyon I am sorry to say they will not be open for Fishmas. We had some problem with water and they will be open in a couple of weeks.
The Bitterbrush, Big Trees, Forks, Intake 2, and Bishop Park campgrounds should be open for the fishmas. 4 Jefferies will be closed due to water problems.

Good luck retired! I think I'm going to be up there as well if I can sneak away.
Still waiting on my RCL Club Patch!

Based on the snow at the main lodge last week, I'd guess about mid-June

They are going to have to clear a lot of snow if they plan on opening on the 26th..Talked to one of the host on Friday and he said the road in East Fork still has 5 feet of snow on it.. When I drove by the campground on Friday evening it looked like 90 percent of the entire campground was covered in snow..

How was your trip r96?
Life without music, laughter, and an Eastern Slope BBQ would be a mistake.
