Which lake is that?
« on: May 02, 2017, 05:53:46 PM »
If you are looking down at bloody canyon and Laurel lake on Google Earth there is a ridge to the right and a lake on the other side of this ridge. Is anyone able to tell me what it is? My earth won't for some reason. There doesn't seem to be much of a trial either. At least not one I can see.

I must be looking in the wrong direction unless you are talking about the small un-named pond immediately to the right. It's probably little more than a marsh. Putting Bloody Mountain peak in the center of my screen Laurel lake is north, Valentine Lake if left (west), Bloody Lake is south and slightly west, and Edith Lake / Lake Genevieve is southwest.

I love Acme Maps. You can grab and drag in any direct you want or pan in/out as you like.

Ok Gary just hopped online. So I just realized when I was first looking at it I was oriented south. When I'm looking at Laurel lake and have north oriented to the top of my screen the lake I'm questioning is to the west. Directly on the opposite side of the mountain as upper Laurel. I think it's Lost Lake.. but I'm not 100% on that. My Google earth won't show a name but I believe looking at my hard maps it's Lost Lake. I'm wondering what it's like back there.

From your description it sure sounds like you are talking about Valentine Lake. Were you able to open the link I posted on your computer? it should take you right to it if it posted correctly.

Lost Lake is about half way between the upper Sherwin Lakes and Valentine Lake ( long narrow lake lying north- south). Sherwin Lakes look like a disaster area since so many trees died up there. Also, Valentine has a difficult shoreline to fish, not worth the effort to get there. IMHO
