I found this post on another Eastern Sierra climbing oriented site. Hope this is the 'right' or best section for posting it on this board as it is not a trip report and is a form of 'MEDIA'    :-)

There is no doubt that he is will be remembered as one of the greatest American climbers of the 20th century.  Though he was not the first to summit Everest, his accomplishments tower over most other American climbers.  I have a couple of his books, with “Mountains of North America” being my favorite as it cover the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  He will be missed by the climbing community.  Rest in Peace.
