Trip Report 9-21 thru 9-26
Friday
Arrived in the loop just after noon and drove to the Gull lake playground to have lunch and wet a line. 1st cast with an orange PW- Fish on! We caught a few more and kept 2 for dinner.
Saturday
We drove up to Yosemite, this was our first visit and 1 day really isn’t enough time to soak it all in. This is truly an amazing place and we definitely need to go back and spend more time.

Sunday
We fished RCL, started out a little past the boat docks for no luck. A fly fisherman seemed to be doing quite well next to the docks. I need to add the dry fly and bubble to my arsenal. We moved up to the inlet past the campground and our luck started to change. Lorri ended up catching 2 nice alpers around 2lbs. We picked up some pie for dessert and headed back to the loop.

Monday
Started off the day with a hearty breakfast at Silver lakes café, while watching the windblown whitecaps roll across the lake. Fished off the rock at Gull lake, which provided us with pretty good shelter from the wind. Did pretty good on PWs and a chrome TB, nothing big but lots of action.

Tuesday
Went to Virginia lakes and got my favorite spot near the inlet. In no time at all Lorri catches a nice 3lbr on a grasshopper fat worm. I used to call her the Power Bait Queen, but since I got her on pinched NCs and fat TWs, she’s now Lorri the Lunker Slayer! We ended up having an awesome day; I had nonstop action on gold and rainbow pattern TBs. We ended up with 4 fish in the 2 ˝ to 3 lb range, nice way to end the trip.

Wednesday
Had breakfast at the Tiger bar before making the long drive home. To those unaware June Mtn has been closed indefinitely and this is a hard hit to an already struggling small town, please support the Loop whenever you can.
gone fishn, hope to be catchn soon !

Great late season report. Nice Alpers. Tim does a fine job raising them.
The E.S. is where I come to get back to sanity and to the real me.

I was up in Yosemite just about the the time you visited.  Great place to visit even if the water levels are low.  Man, Lorri can fish!   :fishing3:  I'm sure your not too bad either.  Great picture of your pup!  Thanks for the report.

Thanks everyone.

Hoping to make one more quick trip before season end, my buddy and I have gone the last 2 years in early Nov and its been great. Both times we fished while it was snowing, quite an experience.

I will leave Lorri the Lunker slayer and JoJo at home, because it will be too COLD.  :cold:  :lol2:

gone fishn, hope to be catchn soon !

Nice fish! What a great trip! You really got around up there. Do you know I've been going to the Sierras since 1968, and have never been to yosemite. Your pictures, and all the other shots I've seen here........ I'm going next Spring. I'll be in Mammoth Nov. 1st thru the 5th. Let me know if you'll be up there then. Thanks form the pics. Good fishin!
