East Fork
« on: February 09, 2013, 09:08:34 AM »
Assistance please..... Planning a trip in June with about 15 people. We are going to reserve spots at East Fork. We have never camped East Fork and need recommendations for site numbers. Want to be near the creek and some shade if possible. Tent camping as well if that info is needed. We normally camp at the lake or Big Meadow but we need 3 spots and don't want to risk not finding spots. Thanks for any imput.

First, bring up the Reserve America site and put in your dates you want to camp and see what’s available next to the creek.  Click on the campground map and it will show what campsites are available next to the creek.

Here is the website:  http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/map_of_East_Fork_California/r/campgroundMap.do?page=map&search=site&contractCode=NRSO&parkId=70804&topTabIndex=CampingSpot

If you would site to see the camp sites in photos, check out this site:
http://www.campsitephotos.com/campground/East-Fork

Is the internet great or what!  Reserve soon as the best sites are going quick.

I would like to reserve the big group camp by the boat dock in early October. the site says available for walk up, first come, first serve. Where would i walk up to reserve the group camp? Bishop Ranger Station?

Creekside #108 through 123 are all pretty good for large groups if you can get a few next to or near eachother. There is a six person limit per spot, and I know you can cheat this a little, but they would have issues with 15 in one spot for sure. These are very popular spots and are reservable six months to the date prior. Unless you are right on the computer first shot, probably wont get one of these spots from early June until the end of September. And being able to reserve it for 14 days makes it even more difficult to hit a three day weekend stay. Sorry for the down info... but it is tough to get these in summer. Keep watching the reserve site as there are cancellations that pop up dates sometimes. Good luck.
Pack it in, Pack it out...or have a Wrangler do it for you.

Packer is right creek sites are hard to get ... a few suggestions

If you can get 1 creek site and 1 or 2 oppisite ,then everyone can hang out in the creek site but have there own site o sleep in. If you are tent camping you could get away with 2 sites . The creek sites are really big and can eaisly hold 2 or 3 tents. I have seen as many as 6 .
Here are some godd off creek site for groups at Eastfork
# 47 ,48 ,49 site 47 has shade the other 2 bring an easy up
#44 ,45 ,53 This is a really great area the sites are right next to each other ,lots of big pines with shade
# 124 ,122 ,120 closest to creek ,not a lot of shade so bring an easy up
None of these are very far from the creek some are tent only.
