Weekend Bishop Trip 3/23-3/25
« on: March 28, 2013, 08:40:48 AM »
Left  at 2  to head up to bishop.  Stopped for gas and then  stopped at the Indian casino  in independence.

Great way to start the trip! made it to Bishop by 6,  and after breakfast will head to PVR.

Started at PVR and caught a lot of fish easily a 40-50+ fish day.

After fishing PVR we went back into town and checked into the hotel.  After resting for a bit we hit up the lower owens, but missed the few hits we had.

Tried a new mexican restaurant on the way out of town heading north.  Place wasn't good at all.  Slow service, medicore food, and they only had one restroom.

The next morning we thought we would try the Upper Owens and on the way stopped at Tom's place for breakfast!  Best Country fried steak ever!

We then headed over to Hot Creek and the Upper Owens.

Finished up the night at Holy Smokes BBQ.  Food was great, but service was slow and the restroom was very dirty.

Monday morning we headed out and as I was checking out I saw this onthe back of a van.

On the way out we hit up a couple spots and found a new spot to try that most people pass by everytime on the way up.

It was a fun trip and great to get away.  No big ones this time, but there is still a lot left in PVR.

Huck, that's a great report!!!!!!!!   Congrats on the win and the fish.  Thanks also for the warning on the place going North.  We have a few we like right in town (especially Las Palmas) , but we are suckers for Mexican food and would have given it a try.   Thanks for all the pics. Like I said- great report!

Like the photo of you at Hot Creek with the snow covered Laurel Mountain in the background!  If whatever you do for a living does not work out, you would make a good food critic!  Thanks for the report Huck.

Cannot believe how little snow is on Whitney.
Life without music, laughter, and an Eastern Slope BBQ would be a mistake.

In the picture of Mt. Whitney, Lone Pine Peak is in the front and Whitney is to the right next to the pointed peaks, or the needles. Looking like really dry year.

Regarding the dry year,, I read a article in the paper last week that said the overall snow pack for the Calif. Sierras is at 55% of normal and much less in the central and southern section of the Sierras.. The first 3 months of this year have turned out to be the driest years since 1885... It all boils down to the fact there is going to be darn little water later this year...

That country fried steak looks absolutely mouth watering.   Just put "Breakfast at Tom's Place" on my priority list.

Like the southern creek shots, that's my style of fishing.

Those winnings will take Huck far in his HHR.  I can personally vouch for the chicken fried steak at Tom's *awesome*  Also Holy Smoke BBQ. Pretty damn good west an nawth  of Texas....:twothumbs:
Totally off the subject : Chris W and his camera?  :chrisw:    :rotflmao:
