Very good, looks like retired will post the first trip report of the season.

Love this time of year and look forward for those reports/pics.

Hoping a few lurkers come out as well with some reports.

Good luck all!
Life without music, laughter, and an Eastern Slope BBQ would be a mistake.

I also enjoyed some nice fish tacos with our remaining trout from last year, plus some from this year's catch too!  I like the early season in southern Inyo.

this is from a few years ago.. but what the hay:)

Twas the night before Opener and all thru the house,
Not a creature was sleeping, not even the mouse.

The tackle was all loaded into the car with care,
In hopes that the time to leave soon would be there.

The fishers were restless, all ready to go.
They all hoped the big one would be on their pole.

The worms they were fleeing, shuttering in wait,
What if the fisherfolk select me as bait?

The mouse meanwhile was able to smile,
For all he could see was cheese crumbs for a mile.

And then out of nowhere there arose such a clatter,
As the alarm clock went off, and that was all that mattered.

Away to the truck, we flew like a flash,
Turn the key and letís go, lets get there fast!

And they drove, and they drove, each to their best spot.
Hoping by days end they would be the next BIG  SHOT.

And then they were there, at their secret best hole,
Ready for that first cast with their favorite pole.

Not long to wait now for the first bite of the year!
That feeling will bring a big smile from ear to ear.

ďIíve got one, Iíve got oneĒ, they hear from upstream.
Oh darn, why is it not me to give the first scream?

And then all is well, as you feel the big tug,
And the tip of your pole bends towards the bug.

At last it is your turn as you bring the fish in.
And look, itís the big one that you can take for a spin!!

So you land it and net it, and place it on your string,
Soon you will be the showoff, and boy will you sing!

And then there they are, all of the oohs and aws
The trip will be worthwhile so long as you keep it out of the bears paws.

Good luck to all and to all a good time!
Hardrock, may his spirit live on in all of us.....
