Crossing "Senger Creek" along the JMT.  Senger Creek had some small Goldens, about 8".

Hiking down to the South Fork of the San Joaquin River to a trail junction.  Pretty country here!

This is where the Piute Trail starts from and heads north along the Piute Creek.  It will take you to the Humphreys Basin.  I was heading south, where it takes me to Evolution Valley and Kings Canyon National Park.

***Notice the low water level as this was June 2013***

The next few miles I"m hiking along the SF San Joaquin River on the JMT.  Some good fishing opportunities along the way.   :fishing3:

You really make it a lot easier to last the winter away from our mountain home. They also make us wish spring would get here sooner!

I joined the PCT/JMT and began the southward ascent toward Seldon Pass.  I followed Bear Creek all the way to "Upper Bear Creek Meadow.  Really no words to describe how many beautiful waterfalls and cascades there are-water sliding over slick granite, then tumbling over broken slabs.

Bear Creek along the Bear Creek Trail

I did a trip taking the Bear Creek cut off trail, then on to the PCT. I didn't fish or camp along the creek, I fished at Marie Lakes the next day though. The fishing was pretty good there. Been a while since I was in that area, thanks for sharing the pictures.

One of the prettiest sections of the trail was along Bear Creek.  Can't wait to come back!

I have hiked bear creek many times and it is beautiful. Between bear diversion and jmt junction I can catch browns ( lower elevation mostly), brooks (like fishing in a barrel) and golden (the most difficult on this stretch in part because the brook are so eager to get hooked).  The brook are small but the golden are fair sized and the browns are large (especially at the diversion). Beautiful country and great fishing.

If you fish either San Joaquin or mono creek to catch a rainbow you can get the Sierra grand slam ( rainbow, brown, brook and golden in one day)

Has anyone tried the cirque lake that is close to the bear creek?  I attempted to get there in a high water year but could not safely cross bear creek which was more like bear river at that time.

Caught some browns on the lower section, brooks everywhere, but no goldens until I was just about up to the JMT.  You could go for the Sierra Slam, but it would take some miles to get catch a rainbow.

Never fished Cirque heuschele.
