Rock Creek this past weekend
« on: March 16, 2014, 09:58:40 PM »
Decided to take a trip up to the Canyon to check things out.  There was very little snow at the snow park so the gate was open. Here is the area near Palisade -

We were able to drive in to our cabin, with a little help from 4WD -

The cross-country ski area isnow a bit father up the road past the entrance to East Fork, where the road is closed due to snow.  Here is a pic of East Fork -

There was absolutely no snow down at Tom's Place and Holiday was open for camping.  We will see what Sping brings this year...

The creek is waiting...

Thanks Stacey.

Sure is going to be an interesting Fall this year.
Life without music, laughter, and an Eastern Slope BBQ would be a mistake.

I think we can forget any March miracle, or even April....Water is going to be just a trickle later this year... Per the DWP flow site the Upper Owens is only running at about 55 CFS which is extremely low...

Just plain sad to see so little snow at this time of year.  But the weather geeks are predicting a wet end to March and into April.  Too late to save the season, but will take whatever we can get.

So I guess I should plan a few extra early season trips in this year...........our annual Fall trips might not even see the creeks fishable/stockable I would imagine.

Will be interesting  :fishing3:
