Ritter Range last August
« on: March 17, 2014, 05:49:06 PM »
As we plan our trip for Mono Creek and the Silver Divide next summer, our daydreams go back to last August in the Ritter Range area:

Heading north from Agnew Meadows has to be one of the most fantastic sections of the PCT.

Early morning at Lower Davis Lake.

My favorite view of Banner Peak is from the small lakes at Island Pass.

Nothing like a perfectly still High Sierra lake at dawn.

Great shots. I think I liked that view from Agnew Meadows best.

Always appreciate when you stop by storm.

Life without music, laughter, and an Eastern Slope BBQ would be a mistake.

Arguably, one of the most beautiful and breathtaking scenic regions of the Eastern Sierra.

Overnight permit is $5 per person. Other than that, it's how much you want to spend on gear. When I was in my early 20s, I backpacked and hitchhiked in the Colorado Rockies on a budget of only a few hundred dollars for the entire summer (I still miss that ancient external-frame Kelty). Cheap food was supplemented by fresh trout cooked over an open campfire and at that age I didn't need any extra gear to sleep well at night.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Great pictures!! I love Banner Peak from any angle, it's just awesome to me. There is a report w/pictures on here someplace about a trip we did a couple years ago over the Silver Divide to VVR and back thru mono Pass.

How well I remember (and miss) my Kelty pack.  The Ritter Range area has my first memories of backpacking in the ESN.  Thanks for the post and ditto LHR - WOW!
Let me wake laughing from a nap in the afternoon under the aspens in the fall.
