before Retired chimes in here and asks why in the world you would shower during a camping trip  ,  I can tell you that from what I have heard,  showers are available for $5 at the lodge,  unlimited water,  and they are also available by purchasing tokens up at the resort.  Not sure how much that costs....I love to give Roy a hard time,  he's a good ole boy lol
Once I arrive at Tom's Place...well,  you know...nothing else matters...

Go for the showers at the lodge....nice showers with lots of elbow room, not to mention hot water:)   just beware that you have to buy the tokens at their little store there, so you need to check their hours...  they used to close at 5.     showers are open later than that... but you need your token:)

and bring your own soap, shampoo, towels etc...

OK I'm chiming in, when you go camping, expect to get dirty and smell like fish, pinecones, dirt and other pleasant smelling mountain odors.... Showers are for when your at home before you go to work etc....Real mountain people boil a pot of water and take a mountain man/woman bath...

When I came home last week after a week camping I may have been a little ripe, my wife wouldn't get closer than 10 feet, but my dog didn't care that I may have been a little rancid...

The showers at the Lodge are the best ,unlimited time .I have never gotten a token there though I pay my 5.00 and they give me a receipt, if anyone asks I just show them that. The resort does tokens and I think it's 3min of hot water for 2 ?
Sorry R96 I have to shower every 3 days ,it's the long hair . It's either the lodge or the sun shower for me

After one of my recent outings my wife told my I would not make a very good homeless person because I smelled so bad. Funny thing is, it didn't bother me at all.
I later saw a video where this guy said you can use smoke as a deodorant. I tried it the next time and my wife said it was a lot better.
So there you go - shower with smoke and everything will be just fine :campfire:

Weekend is fine but a whole week with no shower and your getting a little rancid?  Real men take showers.  Your camping not backpacking, and besides there are shower facilities available for $5.   :tent:

R96, I agree! When Rew and I come home in the middle of the night the only one that wants to be near us is my black lab. Jessie May is all over us, its like smell heaven for her. When the the girls are with us its a different matter. Lucky for us Upper Pine Grove has the Lodge just across the creek, with the best showers. Camping with my girls is a whole differant deal, but I love sharing the Creek with them. When the love of my life comes its the big tent, queen size air bed for her and Jessie May with room for her get ready in morning table. But she loves taking the dog for morning walks along the creek and the camp fires at nite. We also eat better when she is there. Plus she lets the boys go do our fishing thing as long as there is pie for the campfire.

Flygirl, I once went camping in the Idaho wilderness for a entire month and never had one shower.

Showers are nice, but definitely not required. When camping, men have a lot of more important things to do.
If the ladies are around, we can make accommodation.

I don't shower until I get home, but I clean certain areas for hygiene reasons.  And yes smoke does mask the stench, to me it's better to smell like campfire smoke than....well...you know....

Just hit the Hot Springs on the way home, baby wipes in between.

Actually, a good shower in the middle of a 4-5 day trip is pretty good. The Lodge does have the best showers.
Life without music, laughter, and an Eastern Slope BBQ would be a mistake.

I just love this thread, it is cracking me up!...   to shower or not to shower, that is the question:)

It just tells me that if we are all 'discussing' wether to shower or not, and how and where to shower,,,, live must be good!

yes indeed..... life is good!

A few years ago a few teenage kids were swimming over by the group camping and could be heard clear across the lake yelling and screaming.....now would that be considered a bath.   :cold:

The PX sells them in camo packaging and calls them "Hooahs"...
We called them the ten second GI shower.  Good when all you can take off is your vest and LBE when you lay down.

I can't remember...does Tom's Place offer showers for campers?

Oh, and the resort's showers are 2.5 minutes per token...so figure $3-$4 a shower.
