Left for Bishop Thursday afternoon, stopped in Olancha at the Ranch House cafe, always say someday I’m going to eat there, someday finally arrived. Food was good, nothing special, but the hospitality was great. They invited us in to watch football like we were one of the locals, real nice group of people.
Friday morning we headed up to the Virginias, they had gotten a small dusting of snow the day before. The sun was out but it was pretty cold and windy most of the day. The fishing at Little Virginia was excellent as usual, pretty much nonstop on PW`s , but the fish were all small 10-12”. Fished Big Virginia in the afternoon by the inlet and had 4 fish out of 6 casts, then the sun went behind the clouds and the bite shutdown immediately.

Saturday morning we drove up to RCL, once again the fish where biting but the size was on the small side. Had lunch at Toms place then drove up to the loop. We fished Silver Lake but the wind was pretty wicked and we only managed one fish. Finished the afternoon at Gull Lake and caught a couple of slightly better size fish, then went back to Bishop for some beer and pizza.
Sunday morning we fished PVR, the weather was beautiful but the fishing was slow and the few we caught were once again on the small side.

This trip was the latest I have gone up, we usually go a week or two earlier and thought I’m glad we got to fish little Virginia, I was very surprised at the lack of snow. Let’s hope this El Niño brings above average snow fall this winter.
