I'm going to donate $400 from "Rock Creek Message Board."  I knew this would go to a good cause.  I've used a bit of the money for promotions and maintaining the site, but this will be the rest of it.  Thanks guys.  I can't imagine a better use of the money...although selfishly, I would have loved to start a webcam at the lake.  Not being in a position to make that call, I think this is a great use of the money.  Thanks again.

Heartwarming to see the community, friends, family, and compassionate strangers come together because of this tragedy.  Round Fire Relief fund is over $15,000 as of now.  Donations still being accepted for this good cause until next Saturday.  Here is the site:   http://www.gofundme.com/roundfirerelief

Just think what might have happened if this fire was in October with no rain to stop it?

The fire perimeter as of 2pm Saturday.

Our good friends hose was saved, but not so for many neighbors.  They will be at CLUB to hoist a thankful toast and a moment of silence for their neighbors who lost all. I think it calls foe a special dutch oven desert!!

I saw the news clip on channel 2. Ive read the information posted here over the past two days, and what happened , how fast it happened, how mother nature took it out of control , then brought it back under control ( containment) is very scary. Our families hearts bleed for the good people who experienced this and the unfortunate people who lost their homes and animals. Thank you Tim for using what money the board had wisely. Hopefully everything will sort out for these good people.

Roger on the donations Tim. Very sad. That area and the old grade bring back so many memories-from the 40's and 50's.

Creek dude, that link with the video is truly nightmarish.
The day before the fire I was looking on the Trulia real estate site at property available in the Swall meadows development, day dreaming of living there after I win Powerball. How devastating for all involved.

I drove to Bishop yesterday, first time to see the fire. The old road is still blocked off, but from 395 I could see enough.
It doesn't look as bad as I thought it might. Granted, it's horrible, but I had visions of complete devastation, not so. From descriptions, I had envisioned the whole hillside from Paradise to Swall being burned, but it's not. I used to fight fire with CDF (today's Calfire), and can remember how interesting fires can be. There are a couple of charred fields in Round Valley, but the fire then followed the terrain to the base of Wheeler, then headed to the top of Swall, the old road is unnaffected, it didn't get into Rock Creek Gorge.
I also had imagined that Swall Meadows would look like a flattend, charred mess...once again, it is horrible, but lots of standing, unburned trees still out there, some standing structures visible. A friend of mine has a home at the top, I could see it from the highway, unburned. My family used to own the property nevt to that, and it's burned...kinda glad that we sold it.
Hoping that they'll open the Old Road by next week, then I can really see what happened.
It's still very bizarre and sad.
