February 19, 2002

Greetings Rock Creek fans!  Another fantastic spring is approaching, and as it does, thoughts of camping, fishing, hiking, and relaxing in the Eastern Sierra become more frequent...at least with me.  Opening Day for the fishing and camping season is only 2 months away!  It's time to start Thinking Creek and preparing for that first trip to the area.

FYI, I've been remodeling the site, adding new information, and deleting the old.  The site has a new look as well.  I haven't completed it, but I've done enough to make it public.  If you haven't visited the Rock Creek site lately, I invite you to come take a look at it.  The new 2002 camping and cabin rates are updated, the photo gallery has a cleaner look with new photos, the resort's page has a link to our feature in Sunset Magazine, and there's more.  I plan to completely rework the virtual hikes and have them completed by March, along with the fishing page.  Speaking of the fishing page, do you have any suggestions for things you'd like seen on it?  I'm always looking for the public's input.  I guarantee that more frequently updated current conditions will be suggested.  Also, if you have some good photos of the area, fishing photos in particular, let me know.  You can email them to me at this address and I'll see if I can use them on the site or I can give you my physical address and you can snail mail them to me.  In the process of reworking the site, entries in the guestbook and message board were deleted, which was a real bummer because there were over 160 entries in the guest book.  Please visit those sections and add/re-enter your thoughts.

In addition to reworking the content portion of the site, I've also completed the site's bookstore.  There are over 100 books or other items about the Sierra Nevada categorized to make finding a specific item easy for you.  All items purchased from the bookstore, which is affiliated with Amazon.com, support the upgrades that are currently underway on the site.  Please take a look at it.  Whenever you shop Amazon, enter their site through rockcreeklake.com's bookstore.  I appreciate your help and support.
Please bookmark the bookstore...

A complete newsletter should be ready by March 1.  My friend Jeff, who has written other newsletters in the past, has spent portions of this winter at his cabin at Rock Creek Lake with no electricity, running water, etc. and has some stories to tell.  He's planning on writing one for me at the beginning of each month until I get up there.  In the meantime, take a look at the site, sign the guestbook, take it easy and THINK CREEK!!!

Tim
